London attractions: See sculpting exhibition David Nash at Kew
Kew Gardens is one of the most popular London attractions in the summer, with its magnificent floral displays and tranquil atmosphere drawing visitors in.
The Gardens is currently hosting an exhibition entitled David Nash at Kew: A Natural Gallery, which is running until March 2013.
Prominent sculptor David Nash is exhibiting his innovative work at Kew, with pieces including sculptures, installations, drawings and film.
These have been placed throughout the grounds as well as in glasshouses and exhibition spaces.
From October this year, visitors are in for an extra treat, with Nash also working on a 'wood quarry', creating new works from trees in the Gardens that have come to the end of their natural life.
Nash's career has spanned an impressive 40 years, and during this time he has carved many sculptures from wood, with many of them gargantuan in scale.
After carving, some pieces are burned slightly to produce a charred surface, and the artist's tools are a chainsaw, an axe and fire.
